  16. Brazilian composer, whose hauntingly romantic hits The Girl from
  17. Ipanema and Desafinado helped launch the bossa nova craze of the
  18. 1960s; of heart failure; in New York City. One of Brazil's most
  19. prolific and beloved artists, Jobim once told an interviewer,
  20. "I was a beachboy, and I believe I learned my songs from the
  21. birds of the Brazilian forest."
